Musk reconsidering Gigafactory 4 in Germany after learning Model S Nürburgring track time was not 4:20

As the quarter nears an end, tensions typically increase between bulls and bears. Mixed sentiment still lingers, but periodic moments of relief come with good news, as with Tesla recently announcing the “Plaid” Model S and impressive Nürburgring lap times along with it.

Elon had truly gotten the community’s hopes up for the upcoming drivetrain in the Model S, referred to as the “Plaid” drivetrain. Not only did he deliver, but he also implied that it would be similar to what’s in the upcoming roadster, so you’d be forgiven for thinking it should be nothing but fast.

The news broke on September 19 from Tesla itself that lap time data indicated a 7 minutes and 20 seconds lap. This was impressive to everyone, except Musk. It was 3 entire minutes short of the goal. Tesla did indicate room for improvement, but nothing close to the desired 4 minutes and 20 seconds that had been expected from Musk. Although the time is an embarrassing 22 seconds faster than the Porsche Taycan, it seems Elon is not satisfied in the slightest.

Upon hearing of this disappointing news, people familiar with the matter claim that Tesla CEO Elon Musk was irate, and as a result is likely to rule out having next Gigafactory in Germany. Whether it’s to save face or get away from the scene of the crime of sheer disappointment remains unknown.
